Welcome to the world of Gilead!

GileadGilead was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1957. His gifts of clairvoyance and healing were noticed at a very young age. When he was 4 he saw his late grandfather at the living room window. Never having met his grandfather he assumed that he was seeing his uncle, his mother's brother, who apparently looked like his grandfather. Being as the flat, in which Gilead lived with his mother and aunt, was on the first floor, it would not have been possible for his uncle to be standing outside the window. Having told his mother and aunt several times that his uncle was outside, they realised that he was seeing their father.

When Gilead was 6 his mother, who suffered from migraine, would take his hands and lay them on her head. This always brought relief. She used to tell friends and family members that he was a healer. However, during his school years, Gilead's abilities lay dormant. He had a normal childhood like any other child.

Gilead left school when he was 15 and went to work in a sawmill in Dundee. After sometime, he moved to the Catering Industry because he had a desire to work with people. As time went on Gilead's career path moved another step into a more fulfilling role of working with homeless people. This led him to working, with people, on a one to one basis as some of the clients needed to talk with someone in confidence. Unbeknownst to Gilead, this was preparing him for his future work as a clairvoyant counsellor.

In 1976, at the age of 19, Gilead moved to London in search of work. For many years he worked in the Catering Industry in London. However, his search for the spiritual was evident. In 1978, he had his first contact with a Hare Krsna Temple. He was invited to a Sunday programme by a friend. After his initial meeting with the devotees, Gilead became interested in finding out more about Krsna Consciousness.

BuddhaAfter some visits to rural communities, Gilead's interest in this philosophy deepened. As time went on he read books on Vaisnava philosophy and took up mantra meditation. In Sanskrit, the word man means mind tra means free, so mantra means 'to free the mind'. Vaisnava philosophy encourages one to chant the maha or great mantra. The maha mantra is as follows: Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. As an offshoot of chanting these holy names, Gilead's siddhis or mystical abilities were re – awakened.

Since the early 1980's Gilead has been practising clairvoyance and healing. He has spoken, from Vaisnava scriptures, and demonstrated clairvoyance on the platforms of many Spiritualist churches around London. He is comfortable in either groups or one on one situations and is easily accessible.

So many of us confuse our true identity with the body. Our true nature or svabhava is to serve the Godhead. However, so many of us succumb to the perceived nature or nisarga. For example, a man may go to the doctor and say, 'Oh doctor! I am an alcoholic, please help me.' When the doctor tells him to abstain and join Alcoholics Anonymous, he says 'I can't abstain. It's in my nature.' So many things we perceive to be in our nature. As a result of this we will not take any advice on board.

Due to our association over many lifetimes we have gradually moved away from our true nature. We have become covered by the illusory energy or Maya. We believe ourselves to be different from our true nature. If you ask somebody who he is he will probably tell you what he does as for a living. 'I am a lawyer', 'I am a doctor', 'I am a labourer', etc. Never, ' I am pure spirit soul, God's part and parcel'.

At the end of the day, everyone has choice. We choose to be self serving or to serve God. It is not that we have to renounce all of the things which do not help us, overnight. We can just take one small step at a time. It is a gradual process. As long as you are taking the steps you are on the path. That is what counts.

Laksmi DeviEvery day, we are, simultaneously, working with three levels of existence. These are the spiritual, causal and material. We have three bodies, these being spiritual, causal and material. The 'spirit' people operate in the causal body and live in the causal planes. This plane of existence is the material. The spiritual world, or Vaikuntha planets, is far beyond this realm. To go deeper, The spiritual realm is not a physical place, but a state of consciousness, which is eventually attained after many lifetimes of development.

It is not enough to, merely, develop as a medium. Anyone can do this with the right training. The true path is about finding one's Guru and, with his help, working one's way to true love of God otherwise known as prema. We have to live our lives very carefully in order to maintain our temples, ie our bodies to the best of our ability.

Radha GovindaFor appropriate spiritual development a vegetarian diet is reccomended ie no meat, eggs or fish. Abstinence from intoxicants such as alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine also goes a long way towards becoming free from bodily attachments, which just keep us going around the samsara. Also gambling or speculation can stymie one's spiritual progress. Then, there is the one which keeps us coming back to the material realms lifetime after lifetime – sex desire. If you find it difficult to abstain from sex life, it is reccomended that you get married, rather than encountering many different sexual partners.

Intoxication clouds the mind and makes it difficult to meditate. Meat eating implicates one in the violence involved in killing the animals. There is no such thing as 'humane killing'. These two words contradict each other. When one speculates one becomes attached to the end result of that very speculation. If the planned result does not come then one is miserable. Sex life is intended for procreation within marriage. This is why, when one has illicit activity, there is no long term satisfaction. The end result ie procreation has not being achieved.
